Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Mr. Dickson Matembo has stressed the need to strengthen capacity to combat trafficking in persons.
In a speech read on his behalf by Director of Human Resource and Administration, Mrs. Nicolynn Nyoni during the official opening of a training on investigation and prosecution of trafficking in persons cases, Mr. Matembo said the vice remains a serious human rights violation.
He said the programme, supported by cooperating partners, aims to train about 265 criminal justice officials by April 30, 2026.
Mr. Matembo further emphasized the need for coordinated, victim-centered approaches, noting that poverty, unemployment and organized crime continue to drive trafficking within and across borders.
