Significance of the Day

The World Day Against Trafficking in Persons focuses on raising awareness

about human trafficking and promoting the rights of victims. In 2013, the United Nations Member States adopted a resolution which designated 30 July as the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Zambia is a State Party to the United Nations Convention on Transnational Organised Crime (UNTOC) and therefore subject to its obligations, including Commemoration of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Each year the day is commemorated under a campaign theme and Zambia joins the rest of the world in this commemoration
