The functions of the Committee are:

1. Recommend policy guidelines to the Department
2. Promote institutional linkages; and
3. Co-ordinate the preparation of trafficking in persons reports

The Committee may, for the purposes of performing its functions constitute Sub-Committees and delegate its functions.

Composition of the National Committee on Human Trafficking

The Committee consists of the following part time members appointed by the Minister:

One representative each from the ministries responsible for

1. Ministry of home affairs and internal security
2. Ministry of community development and social services
3. Ministry of information and media
4. Ministry of labor and social services
5. The Department of Immigration;
6. The Zambia Police Service;
7. The Judiciary;
8. The Gender Equity and Equality Commission;
9. The National Prosecution Authority;
10. A representative of the Attorney-General;
11. A representative of a non-governmental organization dealing with matters relating to trafficking in persons and
12. The Director as an ex-officio member.
