To coordinate a national response against Trafficking in Persons.
“A Zambia committed to eradicating all forms of Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Persons.
The AHTD is headed by the Director Anti-Human Trafficking who is assisted by the Assistant Director – Partnership and Advisory, Assistant Director – Operations and the Principal Legal Counsel. The Director is responsible for coordinating and monitoring trafficking in persons programmes in order to prevent and eradicate trafficking in persons
The Partnership and Advisory Services Section is headed by an Assistant Director who is assisted by two (02) Chief Anti-Human Trafficking Officers. The Section is responsible for the management and coordination of partnerships in order to ensure a coordinated approach to prevention and eradication of trafficking in persons. The Section has three (3) Units namely; Partnerships, Protection, and Data Management
Partnerships Unit
The Partnerships Unit is headed by a Chief Anti-Human Trafficking Officer who is assisted by two (02) Senior Anti-Human Trafficking Officers. The Unit is responsible for the establishment and coordination of partnerships in order to ensure a coordinated approach to prevention and eradication of trafficking in persons.
Protection Unit
The Protection Unit is headed by a Chief Anti-Human Trafficking Officer who is assisted by one (1) Senior Anti Human Trafficking Officer. The Unit is responsible for coordinating the provision of protection services to victims of trafficking in persons in order to ensure the rights of victims are protected.
Data Management Unit
The Data Management Unit is headed by a Senior Anti- human trafficking Officer.
The Unit is responsible for developing and maintaining data management services in order to facilitate information dissemination on Trafficking in Persons.
The Operations Section is headed by an Assistant Director and assisted by two (02) Chief Anti Human Trafficking officers headed by an Assistant Director. The Section is responsible for coordinating and monitoring Anti-Trafficking in Persons operations in order to prevent and eradicate trafficking in persons.
The Section has two (02) Units, namely; Investigations and Prevention.
Investigations Unit
The Investigations Unit is headed by a Chief Anti-Human Trafficking Officer who is assisted by one (1) Senior Anti Human Trafficking Officer. The Unit is responsible for investigating, arresting and prosecution of cases relating to trafficking in persons in order to prevent and mitigate trafficking in persons.
Prevention Unit
The Prevention Unit is headed by a Chief Ant Human Trafficking Officer who is assisted by one (1) Senior Anti Human Trafficking Officer. The Unit is responsible for the prevention, detection of Trafficking in Persons cases in order to mitigate and eradicate trafficking in persons.
Legal Unit
The Legal Unit is headed by a Principal Legal Counsel. The Unit is responsible for provision of legal services in order to ensure adherence to legal provisions.
The Anti-Human Trafficking Department was established by the Anti-Human Trafficking (Amendment) Act No. 16 of 2022. The Department was fully operationalized on 1st March 2024.
